Week Three–Rest and Reduce Stress
My entire life, I have been a person that is constantly doing….as a result, resting is very challenging for me. I am not one to easily lay down, watch TV or read during the day. I am getting better at it, but it is not my nature….at all.
I have come to learn that our bodies and our minds need time to be still, to be quiet and to lower our activity. Doing this helps to support our physical bodies as well as our emotional bodies. In a holistic approach , it is so important to recognize that our mind, body and spirit work together and neglecting one area can throw our other areas off balance.
I try to remember that ee are human BEings, not human DOings.
Some of the things I have learned to do to rest and reduce stress include:
*short afternoon walk to “walk off my day”
*long epsom salt baths
*sitting in the warm sun in my living room with tea
*reading inspirational books
I also incorporate essential oils in my daily routine for relaxing. An essential oil that you may not be familiar with is petitgrain….this oil is commonly referred to as the “man lavender”. It has similar properties of lavender–delivering calming and relaxing benefits to ease feelings of tension and stress, but it is earthy and musky.
This has become one of my favorites to use in the evenings when I come home from work. It blends well with other citrus oils, Cassia, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, Geranium, and Lemongrass.

I’m not sure about you all but my weekend was packed full of joy. Sushi, hikes, nap time, rib eyes, more nap time, reading, lotsa love and time grooming the pooch. She loves the spa time and I must say it’s a nice change from my typical weekend chores. 

Self care is soooo important and making the time to nurture your mind, body and spirit is what it’s all about.  Even Zuni the dog is for it!
